I considered titling this article: An ‘Evil Plan’ with God’s Backing. Okay, it’s a play on words and we cannot rightly link the term “Evil Plan” with God; no self-respecting, God-honouring Christian would go near it. I agree with you.
The context for such a thought, however, comes from this insightful quote:
“It has never been easier to make a great living doing what you love. But to make it happen, first you need an EVIL PLAN. Everybody needs to get away from lousy bosses, from boring, dead-end jobs that they hate, and ACTUALLY start doing something they love, something that matters. Life is short.”

What if this “EVIL PLAN” really was about your God-given purpose?
Perhaps Hugh MacLeod is saying—and the whole of life might agree—that it’s no excuse to take a leave-pass from our enshrined responsibility, but it is reason to commence, or continue, the search to live our passions. That is, creating the purposed life, and that’s a never-ending pursuit.
Purpose: Love What You Do
Anyone who’s achieved a place in life where they love their work is triumphantly blessed. Work should motivate us to get out of bed each morning because we can make a genuine difference.
For people not there yet, this is most exciting—the best is yet to come!
Today is as new as they come, tomorrow’s even better. Fresh starts are they all.
When we love what we do, effort is a thing that’s not ostensibly required. Our contributions come instead from a welling spring of enthusiasm—a fountain of motivation that surpasses our understanding. The fact that we can’t rationalise where the energy comes from piques our inspiration; suddenly, we realise this is the way life was always supposed to be.
Those not there yet are implored to continue their search.

The abovementioned reality, one that some live every day, is reminiscent of
God made us for a purpose, or better, to live for a purpose. We know it when our passion embellishes our inherent joy and that contributes to the production of meaning for others. Unexpectedly it’s win/win for everyone. That’s the “EVIL PLAN!”
Despite our reticence at such a term, we can readily see that achieving the living of our purposes is against the flow of the world that says it’s preferable to live a defeated existence, one where hopes are dashed for courage to wrench for the fresh vocational air.
This ‘plan’ is evil to the world that wants us to stay put, take no risks of love and to shut up.
Notwithstanding our responsibilities to feed, clothe and educate our families, we have a duty to follow the passions that God’s place deep in our hearts.
